Loan Officer I

We have an opening for a Loan Officer I to be located at our Burley Main Branch located in Burley. This position is 40 hours per week.

Department: Lending

Summary:    Interviews real estate loan applicants, sells loan products and services, makes credit decisions in accordance with loan officer lending limits.

Job Requirements:

  • College degree in business or related field.
  • Two or more years of mortgage lending experience.
  • Good knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures, particularly as they relate to real estate loan origination.
  • Good sales, organizational, managerial, communication and public relations skills, particularly in working with documentation that requires special or confidential handling.
  • Good knowledge of real estate lending policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Specific Job Functions:

  • Compiles and analyzes data for real estate loan requests.
  • Outlines loan terms and conditions, and informs the borrowers of loan commitments.
  • Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and procedures; and, on types of loans offered by the financial institution.
  • Orders appraisals, credit reports, background checks, reference checks and other information as needed on loan applicants.
  • Approves loans within specified limits or refers loan to Loan Committee for approval.
  • Assists in preparation of loan package, in accordance with financial institution standards.
  • Researches new legislation and regulations that may affect financial institution real estate/consumer lending policies.  Ensures compliance with new rules by advising senior management and implementing appropriate changes.
  • Makes suggestions to management to update or add to loan terms and conditions on a case-by-case basis.
  • Provides reports on status of financial institution real estate/consumer loans and loan marketing strategies, based on current and past workloads.
  • Handles inquiries from applicants and processing personnel.  Resolves customer complaints.
  • Performs additional assignments as required by management.
